Severe Stuttering (tumultus sermonis)
Typical symptoms of this disorder include speeding-up of speech, repetition and omission of syllables, impaired articulation, impaired breathing, voice disorders and dysmusia. Due to the tumultuous tempo of speech, the child has difficulties executing the movements of articulation, which also leads to incorrect pronunciation. The higher the number of syllables in a word (or words in a sentence), the faster the pace of speech. Mumbling becomes most apparent in longer words and sentences.
