Dysarthria

This is an impairment of the communication ability that lies in an articulation disorder caused by an organic disorder of the central nervous system. This disorder can be found for instance in children with cerebral palsy (earlier also called childhood palsy). It can involve mild articulation difficulties with no impact on understanding speech, or a complete motor inability to implement the articulative intent (the child wants to say a certain word, but the sound produced is completely different from the usual sound of the word).
